Boomers and Seniors are the most likely group to own dogs. They are also the group that travels the most in their cars and RV’s. So, what are the best dogs to travel with?
A pet product company found that more than half of older adults prefer to travel with their pets. If that pet is a dog, then you want to find the best dogs for traveling if you are currently at a place where you are going to get a new pet.
An article in pettravel.com provides a list of the best dogs to have when traveling, and why. It is not surprising that the article encourages seniors and boomers to select smaller dogs. “There are other reasons smaller dogs may be a better choice for aging baby boomers. Larger dogs may be intimidating to strangers, and many pet friendly hotels have size restrictions on dogs. Older baby boomers may also have difficulty handling larger, more energetic, young dogs,” the article states.
Among the dog breeds listed by this article are miniature or toy poodles, chihuahuas, maltese and lhasa apso.
